Task reminders
A reminder makes sure a task doesn't slip past you. Say Chase Corvel for DPA comments is due Friday. Add a reminder for 1 day before and Trackli nudges you on Thursday.
Add a reminder
- Open the task.
- Expand Reminders near the bottom of the task window.
- Under Quick reminders, pick one:
- At time
- 1 hour before
- 1 day before
- 3 days before
- 1 week before
The reminder shows in the list below, and the Reminders heading shows how many are still to come. Once a reminder has gone out, it's marked Sent.
Quick reminders count back from the task's due date. If the task only has a start date, they count back from that instead. At time and 1 hour before also need a start time on the task, so set one first if those are greyed out.
Pick your own date and time
- In Reminders, choose + Custom date & time.
- Pick the date and time.
- Press Add.
This works even if the task has no dates at all (ex: a reminder to Book 1:1 with Chris next Tuesday at 10am).
When reminders go off
- If the task has a start time, the reminder counts back from that time.
- If it doesn't, it counts back from 9am on that day.
- If you change the task's dates later, its quick reminders move with them.
Where you see them
Reminders you add yourself arrive in three places:
- In Trackli, as a card in the corner of the screen. See In-app notifications.
- By email, if Email is on.
- As a Slack message, if you've connected Slack and Slack is on.
The Email and Slack switches are the ones under Daily Digest in Settings, then Notifications. Note that if both are off, reminders aren't sent at all, not even in the app. Keep at least one of them on if you use reminders.
Default reminder
You can have Trackli add a reminder to every task with a due date, so you don't have to add one each time.
- Open Settings from your account menu, then Notifications.
- Under Task Reminders, set Default reminder to At time of due, 1 hour before, 1 day before, 3 days before or 1 week before.
A few things to know:
- Default reminders are in-app only. They show in Trackli but don't send an email or Slack message.
- They're timed from the task's start time if it has one. If not, from the hour your daily digest is set to (9am unless you've changed it).
- Trackli adds one when a task gets a due date or its due date changes, and only if the reminder time is still in the future.
- Set Default reminder back to None to stop adding them.
Tips
- Want an email for one important task? Add a quick reminder by hand, even if you already have a default reminder. Reminders you add yourself go to every channel you have on.
- To remove a reminder, press the cross next to it in the list (Remove reminder).
