Your default project

Every task needs a project. To save you picking one each time, Trackli fills it in for you when you add a task. Your default project tells it where to put things when it has nothing else to go on.

Set your default project

  1. Open Settings from your account menu (your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar).
  2. Go to Preferences.
  3. Under Task Creation, choose a project in Default project.

Choose None to turn it off. Archived projects aren't offered.

How Trackli picks the project

When you add a task, Trackli fills in the project in this order:

  1. The project you're filtering by. If you've clicked Northgate SoW 3 in the sidebar, new tasks go into Northgate SoW 3. This always wins, so you can add a run of tasks to one project without changing your settings.
  2. Your default project, if you've set one.
  3. Your only project, if you only have one that isn't archived.
  4. Otherwise it's left empty and you pick one.

Say Sam's default project is PMO. With no project filter on, pressing N and typing Book 1:1 with Chris puts it in PMO. If Sam has Lumen Media Platform selected in the sidebar, the same task goes into Lumen Media Platform instead.

The project is only filled in to start with. You can always change it in the task window before you save.

Where it's used

The default project fills in the project when you:

  • Create a task with N or the New task button
  • Use quick add (Q)
  • Choose Add task at the bottom of a Board column
  • Turn notes into tasks, where it's the starting project for the batch

Tips

  • Typing #ProjectName in a task title picks that project instead, for example Draft Q1 resource plan #PMO. See Create a task.
  • When notes to tasks can tell which project an action belongs to, it suggests that project for the task. See Notes to tasks.
