Tags

Tags are short labels that cut across your tasks, like Steering, UAT or Security. They're handy for the themes inside a project that don't deserve a project of their own.

How tags work

  • Each project has its own tags. Steering and UAT belong to Lumen Media Platform, while Security belongs to Vendor onboarding. A task can only use tags from its own project.
  • Up to three per task. The task window shows how many you've used, like Tags (2/3), and the + Add tag button goes away once you have three.
  • They all look the same. Tags show as simple outlined labels with no colour of their own, so your project colours stay easy to spot.

Add tags to a project

  1. Open the project's edit window (on Manage projects, choose the pencil on its card).
  2. Under Tags, type a name and press Add (or Enter).
  3. Press Save Changes.

Tag a task

  1. In the task window, choose + Add tag.
  2. Pick a tag from the project's list.
  3. To make a new one, choose + Create new tag, type the name and press Add. It's added to the project's list too, so you can use it on other tasks.

To take a tag off, press the cross on it.

Say you're writing up Confirm vendor DPA with Corvel. Add the Security tag and it'll show up next to Chase Corvel for DPA comments whenever you look at security work.

If you move a task to a different project, its tags are cleared, since that project has its own list.

Use tags to find your work

  • Click a tag on a Board card to filter the board to that tag.
  • Filter: choose + Filter, then Tag. You can tick several tags at once.
  • Group by Tag on the Board to split each column by tag. A task with more than one tag is grouped under the first one alphabetically.
  • Bulk edit: on the Board, select several cards and use Tag to add the same tag to all of them.
  • All Tasks: filter or sort by the Tags column.

Tips

  • Keep tags few and broad. Three or four per project is usually plenty, and they're quicker to filter by.
  • Email to task can pick up tags from the note you add when forwarding, such as "Security tag". See Email to task.
